* They must have some super-non-decaying swamp water in Washington state. H.A.M.B. member 122wagon recently posted some pics of a “junkyard” find out back of an old repair shop, and other than the variety of the cars stashed away in the swamp, it’s amazing to see how they aren’t completely toast. Yet.
* Kit cars of the 1960s and 1970s are the specialty of the guys behind Price of His Toys, and I’ve seen many a fiberglass-bodied oddity there that I’ve never seen elsewhere, but even they seem a bit stumped at tracking down a Shark/Machette Speedster kit. Certainly can’t be too many of these out there. How can you not dig those wide slicks on both the front and rear?
* I’ve been wanting for years to do a comprehensive article about collector cars in South America because there’s so much neat history that has rarely been presented about cars that are somewhat familiar to us here in the States. Along those lines, an Brazilian allpar reader recently completed the restoration of what is believed to be the last A-body ever, a 1981 Dart.
* Even though I spend plenty of time at the Jalopy Journal, I need to head over to the Garage Journal more often, if only for awesome and inspiring garage builds like the one above by roger55 in San Angelo, Texas. He wanted a garage that looked like an old service station and thus designed and built it from scratch over the course of the last couple of years, sharing his progress along the way.
* Finally, came across mention of the downsizing and auctioning off of most of the inventory from Hoak Salvage Yard in Charlestown, West Virginia. The ad for the 21.February auction says that 95 percent of the 500-plus vehicles are antiques or classics of some sort. I see a lot of trucks and tractors in the tiny photos available of the inventory.
